FDB revokes licence of two Chinese companies

Accra, Dec. 16, GNA - The management of Food and Drugs Board (FDB) o= n Thursday said it had revoked the registration licences of two Chinese companies for engaging in activities that were in contravention with the Food and Drugs Law.

They are Tasly Ghana Company Limited and Winalite Ghana Limited. A statement issued in Accra by the Board said from its investigation= s it had become necessary to ensure the protection of the health and safety= of the public.

The FDB through its Post Market Surveillance activities had noted so= me regulatory infringements in the activities of Tasly and its distributors. The statement explained that food supplements were registered by the=

FDB under the condition that no therapeutic claims for treatment, prevention, mitigation and cure for disease could be made.

However, Tasly and its distributors were misleading the public by us= ing misleading diagnostic equipments to make false diagnoses, and prescribing=

food supplements for the treatment of life threatening disease, condition= s and certain chronic diseases like leukemia, cancers, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, fibroid, spinal cord problems, waist pain, asthma, heart diseases, hepatitis, infertility and impotence.

The food supplements being used by Tasly are Tasly Cardiotonic Pill, Ginseng Rh2 Capsules, Propolis and Pollen Capsules, Propolis and Glossy Ganoderma Capsules, Tasly Miss Bee Propolis Syrup and Tasly Miss Bee Royal Jelly Softgel Capsules and Tasly Cardio tonic Pill The statement said Winalite Ghana Limited, on the other hand was engaged in clandestine sale and distribution of Love Moon Anion Sanitary Napkin (Overnight, Day) and Love Moon Anion Sanitary Napkin (Panty Liner)= in Ghana to the public for the treatment of certain chronic diseases includi= ng high blood pressure, sleep disorders, high blood cholesterol level and diabetes for which the products were not approved by the FDB.
