The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has arrested two women with the help of the Nima Police in relation to a social media circulation of a video in which a woman was seen dipping peeled oranges into a solution to impact the colour of the orange.

The FDA said the two women were picked up after a swoop at the Madina Market on Tuesday June 13 and are assisting in investigations.

In view of that, the FDA has “advised the public to be cautious when buying peeled oranges especially the ones whose colour appear suspicious”.

The FDA condemned the act and further assured the public that investigations were ongoing to ensure the arrest of all those engaged in the practice.

It urged members of the public with information about clandestine activities likely to endanger public health and safety with respect to FDA’s mandate to contact authorities on hotlines 0299802932 or 0299802933.

The FDA can also be contacted through toll free number 080015100 (free only on Airtel and Vodafone) and SMS short code 4015 (all networks except Glo).
