Extortion in Kosovo: Wrong Man Targetted?

In an apology to the acting Interior minister Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor for recent media reports linking him to the extortion of money from police officers on peace keeping duties, the Inspector General of Police Nana Owusu Nsiah claimed to have information that the publication was the handy work of a senior officer unhappy about the popularity of the IGP and the acting interior minister.

The UN Worker commented:

"I hope the wrong man (senior officer) is not targetted and victimized, because no names have been released. I talked to many (not just one) of the officers in Kosovo. This was not in any way cordinated, but the stories matched. If any officer is victimized without proof, then I’ll be forced to expose the injustice”
Secondly, the acting Interior minister Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor was not mentioned in the original report. So why the apology to Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor?. Here is an extract from the original report
“The officers did collect the €27,000 in the names of a minister, the IGP (Stephen Owusu-Ansah) and the commissioner of administration (Mr. Boakye Appiah) and other top officers. They should all come out now to defend themselves,”
