Executive Secretary to Mahama resigns

Dr. Raymond Atuguba, Executive Secretary to President John Mahama, has tendered in his resignation, Daily Guild gathered at press time Monday night. He is likely to be succeeded by Ken Kandar, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Nations in New York.

He was formerly the Protocol Director to the late President Evans Atta Mills.

Dr. Atuguba was earlier speculated to have been fired but unconfirmed reports at press time said he rather tendered in his resignation apparently over a continuous friction and strained working relationship he was having with the Chief of Staff to the President, Prosper Douglas Kwaku Bani.

It is envisaged that he would be returning to the University of Ghana Law Faculty from where he was plucked.

President John Mahama was meanwhile reported to have recently had cause to complain about the output and productivity of both Dr. Atuguba and Mr. Bani.

It is, however, not clear if the President’s complaint had something to do with the sudden exit.

A tall list of names, including a successor to Dr. Atuguba, would soon be announced by the President at a major ministerial reshuffle which would see a lot of new entrants and kicking-out of some ministers.
