Execute armed robbers to serve as deterrent to others - Mubarak

The NDC’s Ablekuma North Parliamentary candidate Ras Mubarak has strongly suggested the execution of convicted armed robbers who are currently on death roll to serve as a deterrent to others.

Ras Mubarak’s comment follows an armed robbery attack on his Accra residence at dawn on Monday.

He claims several items worth tens of thousands of Ghana cedis were taken away from his residence while his neighbours who resisted the onslaught of the robbers got killed by the machete-wielding robbers.

Ras Mubarak in an interview with XYZ News said the execution of robbers on death roll will be one of the most effective ways of dealing with the menace.

“I have always been an advocate for strict punishment for people who are armed robbers and seriously we have to take a second look at this thing.

“Those armed robbers who are on death roll to be executed, if we have to do it, then this is the time”.

Ras Mubarak was not the only person who was robbed Monday.

XYZ News’ Ashanti regional Correspondent Isaac Bediako Justice was also robbed at gunpoint at the same time at Kronom.

A lot of his working tools, including his audio recorder were taken by the masked robbers.**
