Ex-government appointees must participate in reorganization exercise - NDC Secretary

Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. V.S. Quarshie Adonoo has charged former government appointees in the region to visit their various respective branches and participate in the ongoing reorganization exercise.

In a statement issued on Friday, January 26, 2018, he indicated that the reorganization exercise is a shared responsibility hence all party members including former government appointees must participate actively in the exercise by attending branch meetings.

"Former Appointees should be responsible for their respective branches by encouraging regular branch meetings to whip up enthusiasm in the members", he charged.

He further disclosed in the statement that the party has received several complaints from some concerned party members on the blatant disregard of the guidelines governing the reorganization exercise at various constituencies across the region.

According to the statement, " Recent reports from the ground indicate that, some party members instead of using branch meetings as a platform to register party members, have rather resorted to wandering about with registration booklets to register their cronies and affiliates at the expense of the rank and file of the party".

He also cautioned party members who are attempting to shortchange the registration process to desist from such acts..

STATEMENT: Party members including former government appointees must take charge of the branch reorganization exercise.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional Secretariat it has noted with worry and total disappointment several complaints from concerned party members on the blatant disregard of the guidelines governing the reorganization exercise at various constituencies across the Greater Accra Region.

The following have been reported from the ground;

Recent reports from the ground indicates that, some party members instead of using branch meetings as a platform to register party members, have rather resorted to wandering about with registration booklets to register their cronies and affiliates at the expense of the rank and file of the party.

Party position seekers/presidential hopefuls are reported to have being holding secret meetings with branch executives without the consent of the constituency executive committee thereby disrupting the registration exercise.

As you may agree, the reorganization exercise is a shared responsibility and as such, all party members including former government appointees must go back to their various branches and participate actively in the reorganization exercise by attending branch meetings to ensure ownership.

Former Appointees should be responsible for their respective branches by encouraging regular branch meetings to whip up enthusiasm in the members.

Lessons learnt during the historic election petition should be our guiding principle. At least, it is evidently clear that elections are either lost or won at the polling station. This means well-built branches across the nation will strengthen the base (foundation) of our party and reposition it in preparation to wrestle political power from the looting Nana Addo led NPP government in 2020.

By this statement, we are calling on party member(s) attempting to shortchange the registration process to desist from such acts since those practices contravene the accepted registration procedures and guidelines. Any member of the party in the Greater Region who defies this directive will be considered an “enemy” of the party and sanctioned accordingly.

Also, we encourage all constituency executives to ensure that branch meetings are held regularly for their revival for the 2020 victory project.

God bless the great NDC!!

God bless our homeland Ghana!!
