Ex-convict arrested for alleged rape and murder of wife's niece

A 45-year-old ex-convict, identified as Kudjo Ntow has been arrested by the Western Regional Police Command for the alleged rape and murder of his wife's niece, 17-year-old Olivia Kwofie, at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.

According to a police statement dated June 4, 2026, it said the suspect sealed the mouth of the deceased with super glue, forcibly raped her and murdered her on Monday, June 1, 2026, before going into hiding.

“The Agona Nkwanta District Police Command has arrested suspect Kudjo Ntow 45yrs for the alleged rape and murder of his wife's niece Olivia Kwofie, age 17 at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.

“On 01 June 2026 suspect Kudjo Ntow an Ex-convict sealed the mouth of the deceased with super glue, forcibly raped and murdered her and went into hiding after committing the act,” portions of the statement read.

Superintendent of Police Head, Public Affairs Unit/Sekondi/WR, Olivia Adiku added that a witness, Samuel Kingsford Kwofie, was heading to his rubber plantation around 3:30 am when he heard someone shouting for help near School B area, close to the Fire Service Station at Agona Nkwanta.

“He approached the scene and found victim Olivia Kwofie aged 17, sitting naked on the ground with both hands and legs tied with a rope,” the release stated.

According to her, while the witness was escorting the victim to the police station, the suspect attacked them from behind, hit the victim with a cement block and fled.

Police added that a visit to the scene discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on her face and was subsequently rushed to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic for treatment but was later pronounced dead.

“Police upon receipt of the information visited the scene and found victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on her face. Victim was rushed to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic for medical treatment but was later pronounced dead,” it reported.

The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, by the Regional Police Intelligence team, together with Agona Nkwanta Police at his hideout in Nsuaem.

He was arraigned before the Appollo Circuit Court in Takoradi and remanded into prison custody. Furthermore, Ntow is scheduled to reappear in court on June 17, 2026.

“On 03 June 2026, the suspect was put before the Appollo Circuit Court, Takoradi, and was remanded into prison custody to reappear on 17 June 2026,” the statement concluded.
