Nsawam, May 9, GNA - The Nsawam circuit court on Thursday slapped a five-year jailed sentence on Evis Dankwah, 45, alias Yopoo, evangelist of Halleluyah Church in Kumasi for stealing a generator and a sound system valued at 4,500 Ghana cedis. Dankwah pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alex Cosmos told the crowded court, presided over by Mrs. Elizabeth Ankumah that during the month of February 2007, Evangelist Dankwah went to Adeiso in the Eastern Region and hired the instrument for a day's crusade from Mr. Emmanuel Owusu, a businessman, who is the complainant.

Inspector Cosmos said during the crusade there was electricity outage and the accused went and hired a generator also from the same complainant and convinced him to leave the items under his (accused) care to come for them the next day.

The prosecutor said when the complainant returned the next day, the accused was nowhere to be found and the instruments and the generator were also not there.
