Ghana and AC Milan midfielder, Michael Essien, has expressed his sadness after the killing of Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.
Essien, who is one of Africa’s most successful players, took his Instagram account to send his tribute.
“Here today gone tomorrow RIP Senzo Meyiwa#,” he posted together with a picture of Meyiwa.
Essien won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one League Cup, one Community Shield and the UEFA Champions League during his time at Chelsea.
The Ghana international moved to Milan in the beginning of the year and has since made 13 appearances for the Rossoneri.
The 31-year-old represented Ghana 58 times and could meet South Africa at the 2015 AFCON, if both countries can continue their great form in upcoming qualifiers.
Essien joined Iker Casillas and Sepp Blatter as the latest high profile football personalities to mourn the loss of Meyiwa.
