Envoys visit site of Pra River Rock formation and Rapids

Sekyere Heman (W/R), Aug. 20, GNA - Dasebre Kwadu Kyerefo Ampanim Amuah 111, Omanhene of Sekyere Traditional Area, on Thursday called on the Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) to develop the site of the Pra River rock formation into an attractive eco-tourism destination.

He made the call during a meeting with four envoys who visited the site at Bosomase as part of their inspection of tourist sites in the Western Region.

The envoys are Ms. Jeanett Ndholovu, Ambassador of South Africa, Mr Alphhonso Ebariso Aduardo, Ambassador of Angola, Ms Pavelyn Tendai Musaka, Ambassador of Zimbabwe and Mr Cecil Holmes, Ambassador of Zambia.

The tour was organized by the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA) in collaboration with the GTB and the Ghana Tourism Development Company.

Nana Amuah said the development of the site could provide employment to the teeming youth in the community and help to attract the needed investment to the area.

He said the rock formation and rapids had a very interesting history and that about four square miles of virgin land on both sides of the river would be preserved for prosperity when the site was being developed.

Replying, Mr Holmes, who spoke on behalf of the other envoys, said they were impressed with what they had seen at the site and agreed with the Omanhene that the site should be developed to portray and preserve the rich culture of the area.
