Enough Of Akuffo Addo’s Insults!!- Tein-NDC, KNUST

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE TERTIARY EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS NETWORK OF THE NDC, KNUST BRANCH(TEIN-NDC, KNUST)

DATE: 13th October, 2011.

We the entire members of TEIN-NDC-KNUST branch, notice with deep regret comments of Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party on the recent matter of the striking doctors in the country.

Nana Addo Danquah at a news conference in Accra just this Wednesday sort to place a deliberate spin on a factual account the President, His Excellency Professor John Evans Atta Mills had laid forth as the true state of affairs when the country was handed over to him on the 7th of January 2009 to mean he was assigning the cause of this strike action to the NPP. This clearly is a deliberate distortion of what the President said by Akuffo Addo and his NPP apparatchiks to insight negative public sentiments about the President and his government. Very characteristic of him, Akuffo Addo proceeds with this distortion to insult the intelligence of all Ghanaians that, the NPP should have left its ministers and President in place who would have dealt with this crisis in a “more intelligent manner”.

Any objective interpretation of this unfortunate statement reveals that Akuffo Addo deems the President of this country, His Excellency Professor Mills and his ministers as less intelligent but thinks of himself and his NPP apparatchiks as more intelligent than any other person in this country. Also, reasonable extensions of his statement describes Ghanaians as less intelligent people who elected for themselves a less intelligent President to solve their problems, a further insult to the senses of judgment of the Ghanaian electorate.

It is against this backdrop that we wish to state publicly that it is about time somebody in this country tell Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to be mature and decent in his utterances and refrain from these insulting speeches or shut up for the nation to make progress if he has no meaningful contributions for her forward match. We have hard enough of the arrogance, indiscipline and the know-all attitude of Akuffo Addo.

As the flag bearer of the largest opposition party in Ghana, one would have expected Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to have proven himself as a credible alternative for leadership by proposing different and alternative actions or solutions he deems appropriate for the resolution of this crisis at hand. But no, he chooses to indulge in an unnecessary dirty propaganda which only politicize and polarize this problem and protracts its amicable solution.

So we ask, what intelligent solution has he, Akuffo Addo proposed for addressing the real causes of this problem?

How intelligent has he dealt with the serious allegations and perceptions about his own drug use? In any case, as somebody whose philosophy has been “ALL DIE BE DIE” what moral authority and positive sense of judgment has he Akuffo Addo got to tell Ghanaians what is intelligent, more intelligent and unintelligent. Enough of these insults Akuffo Addo!

Again, we will like to congratulate this Mills’ led administration for gathering the courage first of all, to implement the SSSS despite its numerous accompanying economic responsibilities and challenges. We also commend the President for the maturity he has shown so far, in appealing to the aggrieved doctors to return to their wards while the Fair Wages and Salary Commission, the Ghana Medical Association and government find practicable and appropriate solutions to this problem through adequate engagements. This is surely the way to go. Finally, we also like to humbly appeal to all aggrieved doctors to be more patient, exercise restraint and return to work whiles leadership find a lasting solution to this problem through adequate engagements.

As for Akuffo Addo, let him do what is responsible and honorable by apologizing to Ghanaians for these unwarranted insults and repent from these nation-wrecking acts or face the wrath of

God and all well-meaning Ghanaians (Isaiah 23;20).
