End the cycle of violence at Bawku - Davis Opoku appeals

The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has called on traditional leaders and community elders to play a pivotal role in ending the cycle of violence at Bawku.

He indicated that the conflict in the upper northern town has hindered the region's development and affected the younger generation's future prospects.

In an Adomonline post on X, it stated that Opoku emphasised that the unrest is not only costing lives and properties, but also impacting crucial sectors like education, health, and infrastructure.

“Bawku is lagging behind in terms of development. Stakeholders must reflect on the long-term impact of the conflict,” he indicated.

Davis Opoku also highlighted the disparity between Bawku's youth and those from more peaceful regions, stressing that they deserve equal opportunities in education and beyond.

“The youth at Bawku deserve equal opportunities, just like their counterparts in Accra, especially when sitting for exams like the BECE or pursuing higher education. The kids at Bawku will sit for the same BECE with the kids in Accra. The kids at Bawku want to attend the same university with the kids in Accra,” he emphasised.

He urged the youth to give peace a chance, emphasising that it's essential for achieving development, education, and national inclusion.
