Employment agencies must coordinate to cut wastage - IMANI Africa

The Akufo-Addo administration has been criticised for the initiatives they are taking in the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) as well as other agencies which aim at solving the issues of unemployment in the country.

On the floor of Parliament, Thursday March 1, Ras Mubarak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu challenged the purpose of the National Service Secretariat (NSS) at spending an amount of GHC 13 million in a training programme at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, calling it a waste of the resource of the state.

Although the NSS boss, Ussif Musstapha has condemned the statement of the Honourable MP, the President IMANI Africa, a think tank policy analysts Franklin Cudjoe, has passed comments of his Facebook handle to buttress the statement of Hon. Ras Mubarak.

He queried in his posts about what the new training is going to offer the country that Ghana has not seen so far.

He stated, “what exactly are these new trainings going to give us that this economy doesn’t have already?”

He further said that, the agencies charged with employment in the country to coordinate in other to avoid duplication.

In his post, he further stated that, “…But we have skills development programmes and funds that need money for already identified modules…and then there is the national board for small scale enterprises that have ready programmes begging for money. See why we have said all these government created schemes should be coordinated and prevent duplication. there will be more of such with yea and nation builders corp”.
