The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has commissioned a six unit classroom block with a modern toilet facility for Ankobra Catholic School.
The projects were initiated by the lawmaker after inspecting the old school block which was in deplorable state and posing as a threat to the pupils and the entire community.
The cost of the projects GH?29,000, were financed from the MP’s Common Fund as well as his personal resources.
Addressing the Chiefs and people of Ankobra prior to commissioning of the two facilities at a short ceremony held in the community on Monday, September 30, 2019, the lawmaker said the project forms part of his vision aimed at developing communities within the Ellembelle constituency through education.
“My vision and that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is to develop Ellembelle through education. That is why I am so passionate in committing more resources in building school infrastructure and ancillary facilities as well as learning materials for pupils. I would like to assure you that the NDC and I will continue to make education in our topmost priority by continuing to invest in our human resource”, he noted in his address to the community.
It is not the first time Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah has gone to the aid of his people. He has over the past decade built classroom blocks and some ancillary facilities in all the communities in the Ellembelle constituency.
He has also built 34 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds to serve 34 communities within the Ellembelle constituency and its surrounding communities.
The Chief of Asanda, Nana Akpoh Kpayini IV, also addressing the community lauded Hon. Armah-Kofi Buah for always responding to the needs of his people either in cash or in kind.
He advised the youth of the area to desist from late night calls and rather concentrate on their books for a brighter future. He also cautioned the community members who are fond of having sex in the classrooms to desist from such acts as anyone found culpable will be given a stiffer punishment to deter others from indulging in such acts.
The Head Teacher of the Ankobra Catholic School, Madam Ismaelina, on her part also acknowledged the gesture by the lawmaker. She assured that the facility will be put to good use while ensuring high maintenance to serve the people in the community well.
The Ellembelle District Chief Executive, Kwesi Bonzo, in his address, urged the people not to make political differences divide them. He said political differences should rather unit them to push for more developmental projects that will improve on their standard of living.
