The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has urged the people of the Volta Region to vote for the flagbearer of his party, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 general elections.

Ahiagbah stated that Dr Bawumia has several plans to develop the region, including establishing free zones in the border town of Aflao, in the Ketu South Constituency.

A Free Zone enclave in the Volta Region, he said, is a game-changer.

He wrote on his X platform that in relation to the tour of the Volta Region by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday, May 30, "Volta must support Bawumia and reject Mahama. Bawumia's leadership will boost economic activity, create more jobs, and increase regional export production."

He also stated that "Bawumia plans to establish Special Economic Zones or free zones in border towns, including Aflao in the Ketu South Constituency. A Free Zone enclave in the Volta Region is a game-changer, but NDC-Mahama has no such plans for the Volta Region.

"What is former President Mahama's vision or plan for the Volta Region? The development of the Volta Region will inform our votes in 2024 and not sentiment."

It is a known fact that the Volta Region has historically gravitated towards the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on issues of voting patterns.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, like all former leaders of the NPP, is looking to be the man to bring a significant change to the voting trends in the region.
