Eighty Youth under-go training in Mobile Phones

Accra, Feb. 16, GNA-Roagam Links, an ultra-modern mobile phone company, has initiated a three-month training programme in the repair and maintenance of mobile phones and telecommunication equipment for eighty youth in Accra.

The programme, with funding from the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment, is to equip the trainees with employable skills. During a working visit to the company on Friday, Nana Akomea, sector Minister, assured it of his ministry's preparedness to sustain the programme to ensure majority of the youth in the country acquired employable skills that would make them self sufficient.

Nana Akomea stated that the scheme was being implemented on a pilot basis in Accra, and that it would soon be extended to the other regions to help give employment to many Ghanaian youth.

He urged the trainees to be dedicated and committed to the training programme, in order not to make the financial support from the ministry go waste.

The Minister assured the trainees that at the end of their training, they would be supplied with working tools and capital so that they could set up their own businesses. Nana Akomea was optimistic that with the tools and financial assistance, the trainees could work to pay back whatever money had been spent on them.

Mr Roland Agambire, Director of the Company, said as its mission, Roagam Links would secure the future of the youth by enhancing their talents in mobile phone repairs and assembling. Touching on the company's vision, Mr Agambire said it would blend technology with talent in the youth, and use local technology to help equip talented ones in the telecommunication industry. He disclosed that the company was poised to create 5,000 jobs within a year in the telecommunication sector, and urged the youth to avail themselves of the golden opportunity. 16 Feb. 08
