Education on Fisheries Laws begins in Volta

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development has embarked upon a public education campaign in fishing communities in the Volta Region on Fisheries Laws and Regulations.

The campaign, with support from the Information Services Department, was to sensitise the fishing communities to appreciate Sustainable Fishing, Aquaculture Development Practices and the general development agenda of the Ministry.

A release signed by Mr Cephas Aggor, the Regional Information Officer, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the campaign had become necessary in the wake of the misconceptions among fisher folks on the Laws and Regulations governing the industry.

The release said the Keta and Ketu Municipalities, South Dayi, Krachi East and West Districts would be reached with targeted information translated in local languages.

It said the ISD would use audio visuals to explain the content and relevance of the Laws to the people.
