Education Minister leaves for Abuja

Accra, July 28, GNA - The Minister of Education Youth and Sports, Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu left Accra for Nigeria on Thursday to attend the first Sub-Regional Ministerial Conference on Integration of ICT in Education, which takes place in Abuja, Nigeria, from July 28 to July 30. The Rev. Emmanuel Kinsley Dadebo, Co-ordinator of ICT in Education Programme at the Ministry of Education, accompanied him.

In a pre-departure interview, Rev. Dadebo said the meeting would discuss issues on ICT policy implementation, capacity building of teachers and infrastructure development.

Others are allied challenges relating to the integration of ICT to address problems in education in the West Africa Sub-Region, identification of strategies to bridge the digital divide and enhance the teaching and learning process by using ICT as educational tool. He said the delegates were also expected to share their experiences to come out with the best practices that would facilitate implementation of ICT programmes in countries in the Sub-Region.

The conference, which is being organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa, is also being attended by Education Ministers from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote D'Ivoire, The Gambia and Guinea Bissau.

Others are Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo
