Educate Ghanaians on 3% VAT flat rate – Mornah

PNC National Chairman, Bernard Mornah PNC National Chairman, Bernard Mornah

The chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah has called for better education on the introduction of the three percent flat vat rate.

Speaking on the Morning Starr with Francis Abban, Mr. Mornah said “those who are going to be given the threshold, those who are not going to meet the threshold of 200,000 and what have you, they are confused as to whether they belong to the three percent flat rate or not. And I think that these stakeholders need better explanation and education on this matter.”

He stressed that “maybe we have not done sufficient education for the stakeholders on why we are introducing this flat rate.”

“People are not able to break it down, the input-output relationship, is not able to come clearly and therefore we just do what we call absolute calculations and that is the end,” he added.

“Let us get everybody on board, let us explain on it, I will not say that don’t introduce the three percent VAT flat rate, but I am saying let’s introduce it with a certain caution and a certain understanding so that we don’t abuse it,” Mr Mornah noted.
