Of the late the ruling National Democratic congress have been wheeling around the Vice President John Mahama to do interviews, to attend rallies, to open conferences and to attend all of meetings. The question media houses and Ghanaians are asking is Where is President John Mills and why in an election year is he hiding from the people that elected him into office?
President Mills we have observed was happy to do television interviews when he was a leader of the opposition. Since he became President he is reluctant to do radio and television interviews or be seen close up on television. Even at the last meet the Press held at the castle he was kept at least 20 metres from the audience and microphones were placed in such a way the audience could barely hear him. There seems to be a deliberate effort to wrap him in cotton wool and sneak him by the backdoor to get him re- elected and if perception is true then we at the New Free Press will not stand for it.
We believe the President should show some respect if he has any to the Ghanaian people and start answering some tough questions instead of hiding behind NDC communication team members and propaganda secretaries. Some questions Ghanaians who elected him want answered are listed below.
Why is the government not doing enough to tackle sanitation in our cities and towns, which is causing numerous health problems and causing cholera, Typhoid Fever, Dysentery and others
Where does the government stand on the current state of National Health Insurance scheme and how is the scheme going to be saved from collapse?
When will the ECG stop all these power cuts which is really damaging productivity?
When will the roads which are under construction and which are causing delays, traffic congestion and discomfort to the people be finished?
Please Ghanaians did not vote for John Mahama or Okudzeto Ablakwa on the ballot paper in 2008. They voted for you and once again you are on the ballot paper for the 2012 elections. Nobody is forcing you to be President. Stop hiding, come out from the dark and start being a leader you claim to be.
