Edem Agbana urges calm after elder's murder in Tadzewu

The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has called for calm after murder of a respected elder Carson Fogah Ladzekpo by some Fulani herdsmen has sparked outrage in Tadzewu in the Volta Region.

According to a statement released on May 31, 2025, by the MP of Ketu North Constituency, the incident has sent shockwaves throughout the region, prompting an urgent call for calm and justice in the town.

The legislator through the statement extended his deepest sympathies to the immediate family of Mr. Ladzekpo and the entire Ketu North Constituency.

He described the event as a "horrific incident" that has deeply disturbed the community.

According to police reports, a Fulani herdsman is alleged to have committed the murder.

The suspect has since been apprehended from his hideout and is currently assisting police with ongoing investigations.

Edem Agbana confirmed he has engaged with the police and other security agencies, and has urged them to work diligently to bring the perpetrators to face the full rigours of the law.

While condemning the atrocious act, the MP appealed to traditional chiefs, religious leaders, opinion leaders, the Tadzewu community, and the entire Ketu North Constituency to remain calm and allow the security agencies to firmly pursue this case so that justice is served.

He emphasised the importance of not resorting to vigilantism, stating, "We must neither take the law into our own hands nor allow this unfortunate tragedy to disturb the peace and security of our beloved community."

In response to the tragedy, an emergency MUSEC (Municipal Security Council) meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

The meeting led by the Municipal Chief Executive, is intended to establish a mechanism for the proper regulation of Fulani herdsmen activities within the municipality.

STATEMENT ON THE MURDER OF MR. CARSON FOGAH LADZEΚΡΟ IN TADZEWU

My attention has been drawn to the gruesome murder of Mr. Carson Fogah Ladzekpo, a respected elder, retired seafarer, and farmer in Tadzewu, a community in our beloved Ketu North Constituency.

I extend my deepest sympathies to the immediate family of Mr. Ladzekpo and the entire Ketu North Constituency.

This horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the entire community and across the constituency.

According to the police, the gruesome murder is alleged to have been committed by a Fulani herdsman, who has since been arrested in his hideout and is helping the police with investigations.

I have engaged with the police and other security agencies, and I urged them to work diligently to bring the perpetrators to face the full rigours of the law.

While, I condemn this act of atrocity, I urge the Chiefs, Religious Leaders, Opinion Leaders, the Tadzewu community, and the entire Ketu North Constituency to remain calm and allow the security agencies to firmly pursue this case so that justice is served.

Under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive, an emergency MUSEC meeting will be held on Monday morning to outline a mechanism to properly. regulate the activities of Fulani herdsmen in our municipality.
