Ebony’s death: GAF to investigate military ‘bodyguard'

Private bodyguard to late music star Ebony Reigns who died in a car crash Private bodyguard to late music star Ebony Reigns who died in a car crash

The military high command has opened investigations to unravel how a military personnel became a private bodyguard to late music star Ebony Reigns who died in a car crash on Thursday, February 8.

The military man was found dead together with Ebony and another lady after their jeep collided head-on with a VIP bus on the Sunyani-Kumasi road.

Earlier reports suggested that he was acting as bodyguard for the multiple-award winning dancehall artiste.

Checks with the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Armed Forces indicated that Lance Corporal Francis Atsu Vondee was a military man. However, records indicate that he was not officially detailed to carry out personal protection duties for the music star.

Father of the deceased music star, Nana Poku Kwarteng recounted that his daughter had earlier informed him that she was going to see her mother in Sunyani “and I asked, are you driving yourself? She said, no! My driver, my bodyguard who is a soldier and a friend [were with her]. I said ok, that was fine”.

Unfortunately, the only individual who survived the crash is the driver of the vehicle who is currently in critical condition.
