‘Eating Under Trees’ sprawling under Free SHS – Koku Anyidoho

NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho

Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has accused the Akufo-Addo government of introducing “eating under trees” for students under the Free Senior High School policy.

According to him, government introduced the policy in a rush, thus, forcing students to eat under trees because of unavailable infrastructure.

Speaking on the executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Monday, 30 October 2017 in reaction to Daily Guide’s series of publications on the Kwesi Botchey report, Mr Anyidoho said the newspaper was only putting out falsehood to create confusion in the NDC.

He told show host Moro Awudu: “So Freddie Blay [owner of Daily Guide newspaper and acting Chairman of the NPP] cannot condemn the fact that you have implemented a certain free-for-all policy in a rush and parents and teachers and pupils are knocking their heads on the wall. Students are sitting on stones. When we were busy removing ‘schools under trees’, Akufo-Addo has increased ‘eating under trees’ because a lot of those schoolchildren are eating under trees…”

Mr Anyidoho further described the government as “extremely impotent”.

“They said we were incompetent, they are extremely impotent; it is the impotence of this government that has immobilised the security services and allowing these rascals, rogues and hoodlums to be doing what they are doing. What kind of life is that?” Mr Anyidoho said in reaction to the rise in pro-NPP vigilantism in the country.
