Eastern corridor roads begins soon with Chinese loan

Chereponi (N/R), Sept. 23, GNA - The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba, has said construction of the Eastern Corridor roads would begin soon with the acquisition of the Chinese's Exim Bank loan of 10.4 billion dollars by the government.

He said the road would link the northern parts of the country through Yendi and the Volta Region to Accra. Mr Mabengba said this on Wednesday during the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Chereponi District Assembly.

The minister also inspected some projects and visited some schools to welcome 106 fresh pupils to the Chereponi District Assembly Primary School on the "My first day in school".

The District Chief Executive for Chereponi, Alhaji Mohammed Seidu Issah Abah, said the district had benefited from several development projects within the last 18 months. These include 30-unit market stall in Chereponi, construction of 10-unit lockable stores at Wenchiki, construction of a butcher's house at Wenchiki. Others include 30-unit market stalls at Wenchiki and the construction of 3 unit classroom block with office and store.

Mr Abah said the district had qualified to receive GH¢495,013.07 from the District Development Facility (DDF).

The Member of Parliament for the Chereponi, Mr. Samuel Jabanyite, he had provided 624 dual desks to some schools, established five new schools and distributed 40 sets of jerseys and footballs to some youths. Mr Jabanyite said he had facilitated the acquisition of 11 tractors for the district.
