Eastern Regional CLOGSAG demands action from national leadership

The Eastern Regional Executive Council of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) demands action from their national leadership to ensure government pays members their interim premium by June 30.

Chairman of the Eastern Region Association Asante Wiafe explained that members would call for their resignation if they disregard their demand.

Addressing a press conference at Koforidua on Thursday, the Eastern Regional chairman of CLOGSAG says it is registering its displeasure because it has waited unduly to receive information from their national leadership to no avail.

Reading a three-page document, Mr Wiafe explained that on January 17 it was agreed upon for the payment of their premium after its national strike action, following a memorandum of understanding with government on August 18, 2016. But the premium has not been paid yet by government.

“The national leadership is given up to 30th June to ensure government paid members their interim premium. Failure on the part of government to pay the interim premium by 30th June, 2017 will be regarded as failure on part of the Executive Secretary and National Executives of CLOGSAG. On this instance, we would advise them to resign peacefully.”

Members in the Eastern Region have been directed by their regional executives to wear red arm bands through the month of June at their offices in solidarit
