Easter, a turning-point for Christians to re-energise

Reverend Benjamin Acquaye, Head Pastor of the Hope Temple, International Central Gospel Church, Hohoe branch, has said the crucifixion, dead and resurrection of Jesus Christ should remain the turning-point for Christians to re-energise for newness and piety.

He said this can occur only through the demonstration of love towards mankind, family and country because its pinnacle was sacrifice and submissiveness.

Rev. Acquaye who was preaching the Easter Sunday homily, said the season reminded Christians that hope must never be lost, for as dark as life’s road may seem, there was always light at the end of the tunnel.

“As the boulder was rolled from the tomb habouring Jesus Christ, may the old and unholy ways of our lives be rolled for renewed life and energy towards nation building.

“Resurrection gave us new beginning and as Jesus rose from the dead, may mankind rise and walk in newness,” he said.

Pastor Acquaye said this newness must affect attitudes towards good sanitation and the environment and urged religious leaders to redouble efforts towards that cause.

He said the power of the pulpit was being under-utilised and therefore appealed to the Church to assist the state in expressing Jesus’s love through attitudes based on the principles of Christ lifestyles.

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” Rev. Acquaye said and underscored the need for all to protect the environment and the public purse by shunning corruptible tendencies.
