EDUCATIONAL TRUST ESTABLISHED AT OFFINSO

The MP for Offinso North, Dr.. Kofi Apraku, has announced the institution of an Educational Trust at Offinso to help sponsor bright but needy students in the area. Dr.. Apraku who is the New Patriotic Party's Shadow Minister for Finance pledged one million cedis to the Trust. He called on all resident and non-resident citizens of Offinso to contribute generously to the Fund to help raise the standard of education in the area. He was speaking during a four-day tour of some communities in his constituency to interact with the people and brief them about the work of Parliament and to assess their needs and how best to solve them. Dr.. Apraku urged the people to unite for the development of the Constituency. The people complained about the poor state of roads, lack of potable water, quality health service and shortage of qualified teachers for schools in the Constituency. The MP said in spite of the fact that the government derives its support from the rural communities, nothing has been done especially in his Constituency to improve their living conditions. On the re-introduction of the Value Added Tax, VAT, the people objected to the idea and intimated that until the government takes steps to eliminate corruption, cut down economic waste and use public resources judiciously, no amount of taxation can sustain the economy. The tour took the MP to Akumadan, Afrancho, Nkenkaasu, Paaso, Kobreso, Asempaneye and ten other villages in the Constituency. End
