ECG Maintenance: Check out areas to be affected by power outage on July 18

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled power outages in selected areas of the Greater Accra Region on Friday, July 18, 2025.

According to a report by graphic.com.gh on July 18, ECG issued a public notice to announce the scheduled outages which form part of ongoing efforts to enhance electricity distribution and service delivery.

Planned maintenance works will be carried out between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, during which several communities within ECG’s operational areas are expected to be affected.

The areas expected to experience power outage during the maintenance include: Sowutuom, Israel, Race Course, Shiabu, Beach Road, Gbawe Gonse, Joma Agbozome, Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo, Fise Roca, Mericresent, Opah Township, Red Gate, and surrounding communities.

The company further stated that the maintenance activity is part of routine upgrades aimed at improving the reliability and quality of power supply to customers.

“ECG will undertake planned maintenance works to improve service delivery,” the notice read.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has extended its apologies to affected customers for any inconvenience the outage may cause.

It also appealed to the public for their patience and cooperation during this period.

“ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise,” the statement noted.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been encouraged to take necessary precautions and plan ahead to minimise the impact of the temporary disruption.
