Mrs Jemima Lorenz, Convention Peoples Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for North Dayi, has advised the Electoral Commission to suspend the creation of the additional 45 constituencies as its insistence could create insecurity.
She said never had the EC struggled in the creation of new constituencies than this time when the process was fraught with alleged mistakes.
Mrs Lorenz, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, said the back and forth movement of the Constitutional Instrument (CI) to Parliament was enough justification that all was not well.
Mrs Lorenz wondered which CI would emerge after the scathing CI 71, 73 and 78 could not stand the test of time.
The CPP candidate said the challenges in the processes could be a good omen to withdraw the instrument entirely.
She said the EC should concentrate on running only the Presidential election if the problem of creating additional constituencies failed to materialize.
Mrs Lorenz said the country’s credentials identified by the global community as an oasis of peace and democracy in a rather conflict-prone and turbulent sub-region, was yet to undergo real test with this year’s election.
She urged political parties to show total commitment to peace as events unfold.
