EC to refund filing fees to 'well performing' candidates

The Electoral Commission has reminded Presidential and Parliamentary aspirants that their filing fees will be refunded to them in full if they manage to get 25% and 12.5% votes respectively in the December polls.

Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan served the reminder note when he launched a book of guidelines for the aspirants today at the Commission’s headquarters.

The book has guidelines that regulate the activities of candidates and their polling agent.

Dr. Afari Gyan outlining a few of the guidelines to journalists at the launch said all parliamentary and presidential candidates will receive their monies in full if they are able to hit the target set.

“The filing fee or nomination fee that the candidate pays is refunded after the elections if he or she gets a certain perspective of the total valid votes cast in the particular election.

“The percentage is 25% in the case of the Presidential election and 12.5 in the case of the parliamentary election”.
