EC appeals to Politicians not to obstruct registration exercise

Ejisu (Ash), June 8, GNA- Mrs. Alberta Mensah Bonsu, the Ejisu-Juaben District Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC) has appealed to the various political parties to desist from embarking on activities that could obstruct the forthcoming limited registration exercise. She indicated that the practice where politicians convey people, including under age in vehicles to registration centres to have their names inscribed in the voters register was out of order and must be stopped. Briefing members of the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly on the activities of the EC at Ejisu on Wednesday, Mrs. Bonsu stressed that such practice and many others affected the registration exercise and could lead to social disorder.

She called on the Assembly Members to support the Commission to have a successful exercise when the limited registration exercise commenced this year, adding that, the EC would deal with people who encouraged unqualified individuals to register. Mr. Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, the Ejisu-Juaben Metropolitan Chief Executive commended Mrs. Bonsu for her relentless efforts to ensure free and fair election in the Municipality. He pledged the Assembly's support and cooperation to EC for a peaceful election this year.
