Bashir Hayford has suffered serious criticisms by some Ghanaians following the elimination of the Black Queens from the ongoing African Women Cup of Nations but former Black Starlets coach David Duncan has quickly jumped to the defence of the Black Queens boss.

Former Ghana international defender Mallam Yahaya is among Hayford’s strongest critics but Duncan has offered support to the two-time Ghana premier league winner.

According to David Duncan people should first question the amount of support the team had prior to the tournament before calling for the head of the coach.

“People are fixated on Bashir Hayford and calling him a failure but aren’t questioning other factors like assistance he received,” he said.

”It’s like the assistance this Asante Kotoko_SC management is giving the club as compared with the one I worked with” David Duncan told Sikka FM.

The Black Queens registered only one win in three games leading to their premature exit in the African Woman Cup of Nations following a draw against Cameroon in the last round of group matches.
