Driver's Licence System to be Revamped by Canadian Company

AiT Wins Contract to Provide $1M Driver's Licence System
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--AiT has been selected to provide a CAD $1M driver's licence issuance system to IKAM Ltd. for use in the Republic of Ghana's Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority.

The high volume system is expected to produce up to 1,500,000 driver's licences each year. AiT's GenIE and MERYL products form the basis of the system, which includes the latest document security features. The driver's licence will feature a 2D barcode containing an encoded digitized photo as well as an encoded cryptographic digital signature generated using Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). This combination of encoded elements will render the licence highly resistant to alteration and forgery.

``AiT's years of experience in the production of highly secure travel documents made them a natural fit for our driver's licence application. Their GenIE software was easily customized to meet the unique needs of our system,'' said Steve Marfo, Managing Director of IKAM. For AiT, the deal marks a significant contract in a new market.
