Driver jailed for beating up his mother

Asamankese, Nov. 28, GNA - Victor Dzimawle, driver, 27, has been jailed a week and fined GH=A2200 by a circuit court at Asamankese for stealing GH=A2150 from a provisions stole belonging to his mother. Dzimawle pleaded guilty to three counts of stealing, assault and threat to kill his mother, Christiana Awitor "by any possible and easiest method".

Police Inspector W B K Ocloo, told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that Dzimawle who lived in Accra was the son of the complainant.

Anytime he visited Asikasu where the mother lived he would make several financial demands on the mother with violence and when the woman could not meet them he harassed and intimidated her. The prosecutor said on September 6, this year, Dzimawle paid a visit to the mother and spent some days with her. He said on September 16, the woman detected that 150 Ghana cedi from her provision store had been stolen and suspected her son. When she confronted him he become offended, beat her mercilessly and threatened to kill her, but before neighbours could intervene to overpower him Dzimawle had bolted to Accra.

His mother reported the case to the police who issued her with a medical form for medical treatment. Dzimawle was later arrested and when a search was conducted on him GH=A242.70 was found.
