Ernest Kushitor, a 20-year-old driver, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Aflao Circuit Court on Wednesday for infecting an eight-year-old girl with gonorrhea.
Kushiator pleaded guilty to attempted defilement.
Mr Yaw Awuahene-Acheampong, Presiding Judge said the convict’s conduct “is barbaric and needs stern treatment”.
Police Inspector Emmanuel Akemo told the court that the convict was a worker at a car washing bay at Aflao, where the victim’s father washed his car.
The court heard that at about 1000 hours on March 3, the victim’s father invited Kushiator to wash his car at home.
Insp. Akemo said that when the victim’s father, who had just returned from night duty retired to bed, Kushiator lured the victim and her younger brother to his house at Afekotoeme in Denu.
The prosecution said the convict sent victim’s younger brother on an errand and attempted to have sexual intercourse with the girl.
Insp. Akemo said the victim’s mother detected stains in her daughter’s pants while washing her clothes.
The prosecution said that when the victim was interrogated, she narrated her ordeal to the mother.
Insp. Akemo said tests on the victim at the Ketu-South Municipal Hospital at Aflao revealed the convict attempted to penetrate the girl’s private part.
