The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a driver, Francis Ampomah, for allegedly possessing ammunition without lawful authority following an intelligence-led operation in the region.
The suspect was arrested on May 27, 2026, at about 12:30 am at the Green Field Plantation snap-checkpoint.
According to a report by myjoyonline.com on May 29, 2026, police said officers intercepted a Voxy vehicle with registration number GT 9748-26, which was being driven from Accra towards Assin Fosu.
A search conducted on the vehicle allegedly uncovered 14 yellow and brown boxes containing shotgun ammunition.

Authorities disclosed that each box contained 250 cartridges.
“The suspect was immediately arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the vehicle has also been impounded,” the report said.
The Central Regional Police Command added that investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the ammunition.
