Dr Mahama Must Resign

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Alhaji Alhassan Mamudu has advised the party’s flagbearer, Dr Edward Mahama to resign honourably in the interest of the party. He said his resignation would pave way for re-organisation of the party towards the 2004 general elections.

Alhaji Mamudu explained that if Dr Mahama does not resign, the rank and file of the party will advise themselves by electing a leader capable of leading the party to success in the 2004 elections at the upcoming National Congress. ''Dr Mahama’s continued stay in the party as the leader will drive away potential members which will weaken the party'', he stated.

He explained that the party had lost most of its leading members because Dr Mahama resorted to taking unilateral decisions, which undermined the role of the Standing Committee. Alhaji Mamudu predicted that the party should not dream of winning the 2004 presidential elections but rather aim at re-organising structures towards the 2008 general elections.

He further reiterated his call to the rank and file of the party to stand against any unnecessary alliance that would disrupt the re-organisation of the party.
