Dr Bawumia promises to serve all Ghanaians

Dr Mohamudu Bawumia, running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has promised to serve all Ghanaians without ethnic considerations since the party's main focus was to develop the entire nation.

He said "Policies and programmes such as the School Feeding Programmes, Capitation Grant, the National Health Insurance Scheme would be expanded and improved upon".

Dr Bawumia said these when he called on members of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, at Bolgatanga on Sunday, to formally inform them about his selection as running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo. He said the NPP would build hospitals at all the district capitals in the country to enhance health care delivery in the country.

Dr Bawumia said the NPP would ensure that every Ghanaian child have access to free education up to the Senior High School level. He said that the NPP Government, under the leadership of President John Agyekoum Kufuor had ensured a vibrant economy, which needed to be sustained and managed for the full benefit of Ghanaians. Dr Bawumia called on the electorate to exercise their franchise based on "ideas and not based on grudges".

Dr Bawumia said that the good policies and programmes of the NPP Government were having positive impact on the lives of the people. He cautioned Ghanaians, especially the youth not to allow politicians to use them to cause confusion in the forthcoming election, saying the common enemy to fight was poverty, diseases and hunger. Mr. Alhassan Samari the Upper East Regional Minister, who was also at the House, said even though chiefs were barred from active party politics they had the right to vote for any political party of their choice.

He said that no one needed to be told about the tremendous changes that the NPP Government had brought to Ghanaians and appealed to the electorate to renew its mandate to rule Ghana. Dr Bawumia attended church service at the Bolgatanga Catholic Church and the Fountain Gate Chapel and went to the Bolgatanga Mosque where the Chief Imam prayed for him.

The running mate was accompanied by leading members of the party including, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, the NPP Campaign National Coordinator, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sadique, Minister for Works and Housing, Mr. Kofi Adda, Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Mrs. Agnes Chigabatia. 1 Sept 08
