Dr Ayew Afriye appointed Ranking Member on Health Committee of 9th Parliament

Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, the Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, and a key figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been appointed as the Ranking Member of the Health Committee in Ghana’s 9th Parliament.

The appointment marks a shift from his previous role as Chairperson of the Health Committee in the 8th Parliament, where he played a pivotal role in shaping healthcare policies and initiatives.

Dr. Ayew Afriye, a medical professional with advanced degrees from the University of Ghana, Oxford University, and the University of Leeds, brings a wealth of expertise to his new position.

His leadership experience is enriched from serving as CEO of St. John’s Hospital and Fertility Centre and Head of Institutional Public Health at Ridge Hospital.

Additionally, during the 8th Parliament, Dr Afriye was a valued member of the Finance Committee, contributing to critical financial decisions impacting the nation’s economic well-being.

As Ranking Member, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye will now lead the Minority party’s efforts on the Health Committee, providing oversight and advocating for alternative health policies.
