Doribabs School Complex among the top 10 best basic schools in Ghana

Doribabs School Complex, one the best basic school in the Central Region, situated on the Cape Coast Yamoransa Highway (Near Moree Toll Booth) in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese was adjudged the Overall Best Basic School in the district.

The school came top in the 2017 BECE, beating 99 other schools to emerge the best school in the district for the second consecutive time.

Doribabs swept three out of the four academic laurels in the district last year and seven out of 10 awards at the 2018 Independence Day Parade.

Selasie Ewurama Gomado, an immediate past student of the school and currently a student of the Wesley Girls’ High School in Cape Coast won the 2018 President’s Independence Day Award for the Central Region as the Best Pupil of the 2017 Basic Education Graduates.

The Proprietress of the school, Doris Baaba Simpson said the school would continue to give a solid foundation based on moral and high disciplinary values to its pupils and students.

Two of the school’s past students, Golden Sekyi Asumadu, who is currently a student of the St Augustine’s College emerged the Best Student in the Boys Category, and Kawa Andrews, a student of the Wesley Girls’ High School, won the 2nd Runner Up place in the Girls Category in the district.

The school has won so many awards which include the recent 2018 presidential award for Central Region, also Best BECE School in the year 2016 and 2017 in A.A.K. District. Doribabs has also won a Michigan Iconic Partner of the Year 2015/2016 and Most Resourced School in the District.

The most recent one is having a teacher emerging as the Central Regional Best JHS Teacher and among the top 50 selected finalists for National Teacher Prize 2018, being Mr. Daniel Kwamena Essel. So far, Doribabs School Complex is the first ever Private school to be part of this prestigious Award Scheme in Ghana.

Doribabs School Complex was founded by Doris Baaba Simpson on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 has swept so many awards both regional and national within its 9-year existence.

Admission begun officially on 9th September 2009 with 15 pupils and its first batch of students were presented for the 2016 Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E. by W.A.E.C.) under the tutelage of Mr. Daniel Kwamena Essel.

The least grade among the candidates who sat for the B.E.C.E was 09 with aggregate grade ranging from 8 ones, 7ones and 6 ones down to the least. Among the 93 schools who sat the examination in the District, Doribabs School Complex emerged the overall Best School. Master Emmanuel Egyir Kotsiah was the first Head Prefect of the school and also emerged the best student among the first batch of the school. All the students within the batch that year had admissions into the First Class Senior High Schools in the Country. This has been same for the subsequent batches.
