Dont trust policemen with your lives - Police commander

The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Adusei Sarpong advised residents against trusting policemen to protect their lives. He stated that it was wrong to totally depend on policemen and do nothing to protect oneself.

“On the part of the security, we can work and work well provided the needed information is given. That is why we say our work strives based on the information given by the public”, he disclosed at the launch on Operation Calm Life.

Operation Calm life is aimed at is aimed at restoring total calm in the region for people to go about their normal duties without fear or panic. It is also intended to demonstrate the readiness and preparedness of the security agencies to deal with people who would break the law.

The senior police officer further stated that the task of policing is a shared responsibility, as the work of the security men complements that of the citizens.

“The basic rule to self-preservation is self-defense and therefore I will urge all of you to be conscious of yourself and protect yourself before the security men will also do what they are expected to do”, he emphasized.

DCOP Sarpong further noted that the security men are ready to perform their responsibilities as they have provided logistics to do so. He then gave the assurance that the police would do all it can to ruthlessly deal with criminals.
