The First Lady of Ghana and Founder of the Lordina Foundation, Lordina Mahama, has made a heartfelt appeal to individuals living with chronic non-communicable conditions, encouraging them to take advantage of the "MahamaCares" initiative when it becomes operational.

This program aims to provide support and access to medical care for those in need.

According to a recent report by citinewsroom.com, she said this during a free health screening event for over 145 retired Assemblies of God ministers and their spouses held in Accra, where she explained that MahamaCares, officially known as the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), was designed to address health service gaps that are not fully covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Lordina Mahama gave a clear message that no one should suffer in silence.

She also emphasised the importance of seeking medical attention and using available resources to manage chronic conditions.

The initiative will provide consistent care, particularly for chronic conditions, with a strong focus on preventive health at the community level.

The quarterly screening, held at the Ringway Gospel Centre, forms part of a commitment the First Lady made in September 2024 to support the health needs of the Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association (AGRMSA).

Lordina Maham emphasised that this third edition builds on the success of earlier screenings held in November 2024 and March 2024, reaffirming her foundation's dedication to improving the lives of those who have selflessly served others.

Reverend Dr Harry Insaidoo, President of the Retired Ministers and Spouses Association, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the initiative, describing it as "one of the most exciting and impactful interventions" for retired clergy.

He praised both Lordina Mahama and President John Dramani Mahama for their continued support, and commended the medical team and church leadership for their cooperation in making the program a success.

"To us, it was one of the biggest and most exciting moments, for us, as every three months the doctors will thoroughly examine you, and thereafter, they will give you medication, not only that, they will also offer pieces of advice on how to live a good and healthy life," he added, the report said.
