'Don't push them' – Watch as Lordina Mahama orders bodyguard to be lenient with crowd

First Lady Lordina Mahama, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, during the thanksgiving service of the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, who died in a helicopter crash, ordered her bodyguard not to maltreat members of the crowd gathered at the Christ the King Church in Accra.

After the church service, Lordina, together with her husband President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, were seen exchanging pleasantries with some members of the congregation.

Lordina later proceeded towards her vehicle and as she walked to board the car, her bodyguard was heard shouting at some of the crowd to “go back.”

Turning her attention to the bodyguard, Lordina calmly ordered, “Don’t push them.”

The bodyguard promptly responded, “Yes, Maa.”

The crash of the Z9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, claimed the lives of Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Others are, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

Members of the helicopter’s crew are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sgt Ernest Addo Mensah.
