National service postings do not attract any charges, hence no one should pay any individual or organisation to be posted, Ussif Mustapha, the Acting Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, has said.
Mr Mustapha stated on Thursday June 8 that it had come to the notice of the management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) that certain individuals had resorted to luring prospective national service personnel into paying specified amounts of money with promises of getting them posted to their preferred companies and institutions.
The secretariat indicated that it “takes a serious view of these developments and wishes to state that posting of national service personnel does not attract any fee”.
“While cautioning those involved in these unscrupulous acts to stop the deceit and extortions, management also wishes to advise prospective national service personnel and the general public to be wary of such ongoing activities,” Mr Mustapha emphasised in a press statement.
He indicated that the general public should be aware that the security agencies have been alerted and that “anyone caught…in such unauthorised activities would be dealt with in accordance with the law”.
He also pointed out that the secretariat “does not engage the services of agents for postings and would not be responsible for any acts of [fraud]”.
