Don’t over-stress, over-burden talented Anim Cudjoe – Eric Bekoe

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has urged the technical staff and supporters of the club to be measured with their expectations of youngster Matthew Anim Cudjoe.

Anim opened his goal account for Kotoko last week against struggling Ebusua Dwarfs at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The 16-year-old has also excited the club’s supporters with a series of fine displays in the five matches he has played so far.

Bekoe who has a great deal of knowledge on how pressure from fans can crush a player’s career has called on the fans to be circumspect with their expectations of the young lad.

He urged the fans to concentrate on the player’s development instead of giving him too much responsibilities.

Bekoe who made the comment on GhanaWeb TV however expect Anim and his Kotoko colleagues to beat Hearts in today’s encounter.

“They should not over-stress the boy. He is so young and needs to go through all the procedures to become a fine player”.

Anim is set for his first start of the season after striker Sogne Yacouba was excluded from the team that travelled to Accra for the match.

In five games played, Anim Cudjoe has found the net once, making history as the youngest player to score for Kotoko.

Speaking on the same show, Hearts of Oak legend, Amankwah Mireku joked that Hearts have found ways to silence the player.

Amankwah is an admirer of Cudjoe’s but does not expect him to cause Hearts problems today.

“We have put him under a table. We have to silence him so spiritually he is done. Eric Bekoe knows. At times we put him under an umbrella so we have done it this time around”.
