Unlike some persons who postulate that ladies should first consider the financial status of a man before accepting to be in a relationship with them, Nigerian gospel singer and author, Mercy Balogun has advised that ladies rather fall in love with the vision of the man.

In a book she authored, MercyB, as she is affectionately called, discusses what men and women want and highlights key elements for those who desire to enter into lasting relationships.

“When I first met my husband, all he had was a mattress on the floor of his one room and a television set. This picture doesn’t look so perfect, does it? He didn’t have money or anything to offer me, but he had a vision and that’s why I chose him.” The beginning of the said book, ‘Fall in love with his vision; not his wallet’ reads.

According to her, a man without a vision has nothing better to offer a lady.

MercyB, using her story as a background, lays out the best biblical principles of finding the right partner and maintaining a lasting relationship in marriage while pointing out the dangerous ‘red light’ to avoid or seek help if one finds them operating in their lives.

“…whenever you meet a guy, to know how serious he is about life, ask for his long term plan. Don’t be fooled by his sweet words and elegant appearance… Don’t keep looking for someone you love. Look for someone who genuinely loves you… The woman that catches a man’s eye catches his purse, but the woman that catches his heart catches his world,” portions of the book reads.

During an interaction with journalists at Labadi Beach Hotel, MercyB stressed that it is imperative for one to know that marriage is for the mature minds; hence, the need to know oneself as well as the partner before accepting to be on the journey.

While indicating that her marriage is not perfect, the God factor, she said, is paramount in making the relationship beautiful. She further urged partners to see communication as an effective tool, appreciate one another and the other to their previous failed relationships.
