Forty two participants of an eight-week certificate course in Strategic Church Management and Policy Formulation have graduated in Accra.
The course, which was introduced by the Center for Professional Development and Consultancy (CPDC) of the Dominion University College (DUC), in collaboration with the Action Chapel International, is to improve accountability and good policy formulation in churches.
Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, President of the University said churches in the country were on the increase and therefore stressed the need for them to be strategic and adopt good managerial skills.
He said the DUC organises short courses for pastors and individuals to upgrade their knowledge in the field of christianity and church management.
Dr Spio-Garbrah said the knowledge acquired by the graduands will help them re-position their churches in the area of strategy and management, thereby promoting accountability in the church.
He said the University, in collaboration with African Business Media, would soon launch the Ghana Scholarship Directory, saying that, “The Directory will help students to access scholarships in the country and in other international countries.”
Dr Spio-Garbrah said phase two of the course will soon be rolled out, and that, the course was affordable as compared to other short courses being organized by other institutions, adding that the University is already offering Degree courses in Theological Studies.
He advised the graduates to share the knowledge they had acquired with the elders in their churches to help solve problems within their churches.
Reverend Michael Mensah, a participant said he was humbled by the knowledge he had acquired. He praised the school for organising the course and asked that other short courses are introduced.
In all, twenty-two of the participants came from the Action Chapel International while the rest were drawn from other sister churches.
