District Chief Executive Reaffirms Gov't Commitment To Farmers

Alagbokorpe (V/R), - Madam Vicky Nazah-Gidigloh, Akatsi district chief executive, has said that the government is determined to give farmers every possible assistance for them to increase food production to make life easy for the people. She was inaugurating a 103-member Enyonam Farming Association at Alagbokorpe in the Akatsi District at the weekend. The association has Mr A.K. Kponyo as chairman, Mr Famous Matsi, secretary and Mr Emmanuel Vovobu, treasurer. Madam Nazah-Gidigloh said the government recognizes the important role being played by farmers to sustain the economy hence the institution of farmers' day in their honour. She said there is the need for farmers to diversify food production by growing non-traditional export crops like cashew, pepper and yams for export. She urged them to organise themselves into cooperatives to qualify for loans from the banks to be able to expand their farms.
