Disregard Mould’s comments on Aker Energy, AGM deal – Energy Ministry

Alex Mould , Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Alex Mould , Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)

The ministry of energy has described as deceitful, the comments made by former Ghana National Petroleum Corporation(GNPC) boss Alex Mould, on the Aker energy- AGM deal in Ghana.

According to a press statement from the energy ministry, it will continuously act in the best interest of Ghana, hence the need for the public to disregard allegations by Mould.

The ministry is therefore asking the public to seek information from its office since it runs an open-door system.

“We would wish to reiterate to Mr. Mould and all the members of the general public that we operate an open-door policy and would be very happy to address issues of concern to them. We are of the knowledge that it is better for individuals to have such interactions with us and be properly informed before publications which are mostly laced with untruths are made.”

On the back of the revision of the Aker energy and AGM agreement, the Ministry said the amendments to the Petroleum Agreements of Aker Energy and AGM were to provide regulator certainty and incentives to support the realization of Aker Energy’s Pecan Project and increase investment in the AGM block respectively.

These investments it said has already yielded positive results for the country as AGM recently announced crude oil discoveries following an accelerated drilling campaign.

The ministry further corrected some factual errors published by Mr. Mould to mislead the public.

“Mr. Mould claims that the PA Amendments compels government to accept FPSO as the development technology. This is factually wrong. It only stabilizes the framework for evaluating and FPSO, so contractor can rest assured that any FPSOs being evaluated will be subject to the current evaluation criteria. Further, Mr. Mould should know that the FPSO is the most realistic development option at these water depths.”
