Detectives Kick Against Kumbour As A-G

-Say he lacks integrity
The appointment of Dr. Benjamin Kumbour as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice by President John Evans Atta Mills has been strongly criticized by some detective officers, who say the decision by the president constitutes a great insult to their sense of honesty, integrity and justice.
According to them, the position of A-G requires a person of high integrity and not a man who is not honest and will cover up investigations, accusing Dr. Kumbour of not being honest with the people of Ghana when he allegedly lied to the general public that there had been an assassination attempt on his life in a report to the Ghana Police Service.
In 2010, Dr. Kumbour alleged an assassination attempts on his life but declined to give details when journalists made efforts to find out more about the issue, claiming it was under investigation.
But the detectives say after investigations into the said assassination, they have noted that it was a concocted story by the new A-G.
According to a statement issued by one Kojo Bruce who claims to be speaking on behalf of the concerned detectives in the country, reports show that Dr. Kumbour’s alleged gunshot was fired from the inside of the Minister’s VW Passat saloon car, with registration number GR4656-10 with his own JERICHO 941 PSL 9mm Pistol.
“The reward and payment the Police Administration received from the government for our hard work was the transfer of the gargantuan criminal to the ministry of the Interior as our sector Minister after receiving our report,” he said.
The concerned detectives regretted that the media and public have not bothered to ask for the reports on the so-called assassination attempts on the minister, with the government also not making the public know about the truth.
The detective officers find it difficult to understand why President Mills should send Dr. Kumbour to the Ministry of Justice “where it requires more honesty, integrity and justice to guarantee the safety of all Ghanaians which he lacks.”
To them, this goes to confirm Mr. Martin Amidu’s statement that certain personalities in this government are committing gargantuan crimes against the nation, with President Mills making efforts to cover up.
